Update from the trenches....

It's been a few weeks hasn't it? First we struggled again with no internet . for no apparent reason... and no-one interested in giving us one. and then I got super distracted by the spring holiday, and all the children at home for two weeks.

They went back yesterday and we now look forward to a final 25 day term before the summer holiday starts at the end of THIS month... yup, APRIL- SEPTEMBER!!!!
Crazy isn't it? After the fist week back at school they all start their final exams for the year; and I'm kind of left wondering when the learning actually has time to happen...

Our house has finally dried out, ds16 made himself useful over the holidays and did a big clear up of the terrace and store cupboard so that the smallies had somewhere to play... and the best thing is, I didn't even ask! And we're making plans for a bit of a spruce up and an attempt at purtying up the place before the holiday starts inshallah. Not always so easy in an Algeria house, as they don't lend themselves to warmth and coziness much, but there's no harm in trying...

We have finally found homes for all of our kittens... finding homes for cats here is misery... I used to love cats but I'm SO over it now!! Anyway, we got rid of our two females, cos quite frankly I can't do double litters several times a year, and we've kept two of the male kittens... who may honestly be the thickest cats alive... they are currently in their basket with the kitten waiting to go home with my brother-in-law, trying to suckle.. I can't even begin to describe how crazy it looks. Or how confused poor little kitty looks at having his belly fur chewed... it seems the male of EVERY species may be somewhat deficient !!

And now, off  to tackle Mount Laundry... we've had no water supply during the day for about a week now, and twice this week it's been a full 24hr stoppage, so the laundry has exploded and is in danger of taking over the house if I don't kick it into some kind of shape...
Of course if I were a more diligent housewife  would have stayed up nights to get the laundry done when there was water to be had, but I'm not, so I didn't and now ... well, lets just say me and the laundry pile will be spending some quality time together...;

Ooh and don't be surprised if the place looks different sometime later today.. I'm having a spruce up and a blog spring clean... it's about time I think.

BTW... this blog post has been brought to you by a fasting person, who has no time to edit before hitting the publish button, so if it makes no sense...

  3. As-Salamu Alaikum Kate,

    masha'Allah you were able to find good homes for all of your kittens.

    I have a pile of washing too but no valid excuses as to why i'm not catching up on it :)

    Our hoover is on the blink, we have only had it 3months! I must be the worst hoover upper there as ever been lol

    In sha Allah you and the kids have some good times during the summer holidays, relax from the schedule and maybe have a day at the seaside?
