Crochet...

is a must do craft in Algeria...

women everywhere will take out carefully put by packages of crochet that they've made and kept and show them off with a real sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

in the past a woman would spend the months and weeks leading up to her wedding making all manner of crocheted household items to help decorate her home..these days though less young girls are learning to crochet, preferring to buy from older women and relying on their mothers also to prepare beautiful pieces of crochet for their new married lives..

this piece was made up for my very special aunt-in-law...she and her lovely husband have become my surrogate parents and I love being able to gift them with things that make them happy...

  4. Mashallah, I am crochet illiterate but this piece is beautiful! Hopefully, you have what it takes to pass this skill down to your daughters. I didn't grow up in a crafty oriented home and now crave creating things with my hands. InshAllah I am planning to give knitting a shot, perhaps crochetting would be next in order.

  5. as salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh!

I'd been looking for you for ages :) Found your blog via Sister Itto's. So glad I've 'found' you again - I was enjoying reading about how you moved and adjusted. I'll have to catch up on your posts but just wanted you to know that I hope to see more crafty goodness from you. Love the crochet piece and am positively green with envy - I so want to crochet but can't seem to do it!
