and embracing frugality for me means using or trying to find a use for all the things I would normally discard...
of course it's not always possible... but this time we knew we were onto a winner...
for just a little bit of effort you have a tasty snack...

so next time you buy a melon...
scoop out the insides, wash the seeds and then soak the for a while in salted water...pat dry and tost in a dry pan...leave to cool....and then enjoy!
couldn't be simpler could it.....

ReplyDeletewhen i was little my mum used to dry the seeds in the sun on the garden shed roof and we would eat them as a snack after. I recal peeling the outer shell and eating a softer seed in side yummy.
Essalam Alaikum, I love not wasting leftovers of anything! We give our left overs to the goats, chickens and wild cats and the occasional wild dog... LOL! Nothing goes to waste, cats get the bones and cartilage from meat, and the goats and chickens get anything vegetarian. Can you get a goat? People here love their milk, I don't like any kind of milk but goats milk is supposed to be really good for you.
